Demi Lovato and The Young and the Restless' Max Ehrich call off their engagement

Demi Lovato and The Young and the Restless' Max Ehrich call off their engagement

The Young and the Restless' Max Ehrich (ex-Fenmore Baldwin) and singer Demi Lovato have made the "tough decision" to end their whirlwind romance and engagement.

After just two months of enjoying the bliss of being fiancs, The Young and the Restless' Max Ehrich (ex-Fenmore Baldwin) and singer Demi Lovato have called off their engagement. But are they sorry? Not sorry? After all, the pair have been publicly sharing posts about how much they love and adore each other all throughout the six months that they've been dating. So, what went wrong?

Several sources tell People that the couple -- who got engaged in July -- began having problems over the last several weeks as they returned to work after quarantining together in Los Angeles amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Demi and Max were basically together 24/7 for months. They lived in a bubble with zero stress, and everything was just fun," a source told the outlet, adding that once their lives started returning to normal, they began having conflicts. "Now they are both working and are on separate coasts."

As Soap Central previously reported, Ehrich recently landed a role in the musically driven film Southern Gospel, which could be one of the work projects that contributed to the strain on their relationship.

Says another source to People, "Max shot up in fame, and it's been hard. He got wrapped up in [Hollywood]."

Reps for Lovato and Ehrich have not commented on the pair's split, but another source with knowledge of the situation tells People that it was a "tough decision" for the stars to end their engagement.

"Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers," the insider reveals. "They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together."

Ehrich and Lovato's breakup comes nearly two weeks after several screenshots of tweets that Ehrich reportedly made before he met Lovato surfaced, revealing that he's been romantically obsessed with stars like Ariana Grande and Gigi Hadid, and that he wanted to marry Selena Gomez. Lovato came to Ehrich's defense and claimed that the posts were fake, but because Ehrich deleted his Twitter account, it's tough to verify if the fan screenshots of his posts were doctored or not. However, there is an Instagram Live video of him gushing about Selena Gomez and revealing that he's "had a major crush on her since 2010."

Max Ehrich starred as Y&R's Fenmore from 2012 to 2015. His additional credits include Under the Dome, The Path, Sweet/Vicious, and 100 Things to Do Before High School. The New Jersey native is also a singer, with one of his last official singles being "Ride," which he released for his film, Walk. Ride. Rodeo.

Demi Lovato has released six albums and charted with pop hits like "Sorry Not Sorry" and "Confident." She was also a judge on The X Factor. This July marked the two-year anniversary of a drug overdose that landed her in the hospital following six years of sobriety. She checked into rehab in August of 2018 and has been focusing on taking positive steps in her life and career since that time.
