Y&R taps Australian-born British actress Alice Hunter for a new role

Someone new is headed to Genoa CIty. Actress Alice Hunter has been tapped for a new role that will have ties to both Newman and Jabot.

The Young and the Restless has cast a new character that will seemingly mix things up at both Newman Enterprises and Jabot.

Alice Hunter has been hired to breathe life into Kerry Johnson. Hunter, who claims both England and Australia as home, describes her new alter ego as "very sweet but [...] willing to cross a few lines."

It's unclear if the role of Kerry is one that was the subject of a casting call a few weeks back. At the time, the show was referring to the character as "Candace," but as most fans know, names used in casting calls are rarely ever the ones used when the character hits the screen. "Candace" was described as a "super-smart, confident, top notch executive with a background in science from Chicago." "Candace" was also said to be happily single, but not opposed to finding a relationship.

While this is Hunter's first foray into daytime television, she has quite a few credits under her belt. She's had recurring roles on Showtime's House of Lies and Comedy Central's Another Period.

Among her special talents, Alice says that she's quite the expert on accents, including Australian (she has dual citizenship in both the United States and Australia), British, and Southern. Oh, and she's also a singer. Hmm...

Hunter will make her on-screen debut near the end of October.
