Y&R's Simone, Shanica Knowles, cast in new Tyra Banks film

Former The Young and the Restless actress Shanica Knowles (ex-Simone Burch) has landed a role in the upcoming Tyra Banks sequel Life Size 2.

Things didn't work out between The Young and the Restless' Devon and Simone, but it seems things have worked out for the latter's portrayer, Shanica Knowles. The actress/singer has just landed a role in Tyra Banks' latest film Life Size 2.

A sequel of the original film that was released in 2000, Life Size 2 follows Grace Manning (Francia Raisa), the CEO of Marathon Toys, a company that's famous for manufacturing the Eve doll (played again by Banks). Although Grace is apparently confident and funny, she's also a "hot mess" in the thick of a quarter-life crisis. On top of that, her reckless ways have caused the company's stock to drop, which has Grace questioning her ability to run the business started by her mother. And everything just gets crazier when the doll Eve magically comes to life.

Knowles plays one of Grace's best friends and will star alongside Gavin Stenhouse, Hank Chen, and Alison Fernandez. There's no word yet if Lindsay Lohan will make a cameo appearance as Casey Stuart, her character from the original movie.

Knowles made several appearances on Y&R earlier this year as the new girlfriend of Devon (Bryton James) -- whom Hilary (Mishael Morgan) definitely did not like. The actress has also appeared on Hannah Montana, Awkward, and Jump In!, which also starred One Life to Live alum Corbin Blue (ex-Jeffrey King).

Life Size 2 is set to premiere in December as part of Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas lineup.
