Robert Adamson to exit The Young and the Restless

Robert Adamson will exit his role as Noah Newman on The Young and the Restless. Adamson has played the role of Nick and Sharon's son for more than five years.

The Young and the Restless is about to lose another of its more familiar faces. Soap Central can confirm that Robert Adamson, who has played the role of Noah Newman since 2012, is exiting the show. The decision to leave was not made by Adamson.

News of Adamson's exit comes just two weeks after Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson) confirmed her exit from the CBS soap.

Though Adamson has been on recurring status with Y&R for some time, the actor has seen a bump in his on-screen time recently due to Noah's sort-of-kind-of love triangle with Tessa and Mariah. With his romance with Tessa now over and done and the recent torching of the Underground, Noah realizes that his life is at a crossroads. After a talk with Victor, Noah will make the life-changing decision to leave Genoa City.

Obviously with the character simply leaving town, the door will remain open for Adamson to return or for the role to be recast. That doesn't appear to be in the immediate offing, based on the rumored return of another character in the same demographic. You can read about that here.

During his time with The Young and the Restless, Adamson has twice been pre-nominated in the Daytime Emmy's Outstanding Younger Actor category.

The Young and the Restless does not comment on contracts.

UPDATE: February 16, 2018: Though initially silent as news of his exit circulated, Adamson took to Instagram after his final episode aired to say goodbye to fans and to seemingly confirm that it was not his decision to exit Y&R.

"I want to say Thank You for all he support ive recieved over more than 5 years portraying Noah Newman. The cast and crew truly became my family. While i dont believe this is officially goodbye, Noah will not be back to Genoa City in the near future. I will personally be back anytime they wish, schedule permitting," Adamson shared.
