ABC to develop A Tale of Two Cities adaptation by Y&R alum Eyal Podell

A Tale of Two Cities adaptation by The Young and the Restless' Eyal Podell (ex-Adrian Korbel) is being developed at ABC.

ABC is hoping to give fans the best of times rather than the worst of times with its latest series development choice: a modern adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel A Tale of Two Cities.

The television network is in the midst of developing the one-hour drama series that centers on a society on the verge of revolution, where the tension between the haves and have-nots has reached a breaking point. Character Lucy Manette sits in the center of the story, rehabilitating a stricken father she's only just met while caught between two men she loves for different reasons.

The updated Tale of Two Cities story comes from Jonathon Stewart and The Young and the Restless alum Eyal Podell (ex-Adrian Korbel), who will both write and executive produce, Variety reports.

In addition to recently contributing to the original story for Cars 3, Podell and Stewart landed on the 2012 Black List with their feature script Seuss and last season sold a pitch to ABC for a drama about a minister who reveals he is gay.

As Y&R fans may recall, Podell appeared in Genoa City from 2006 to 2008 as a college art professor who had flings with Amber Moore (Adrienne Frantz) and Colleen Carlton (Adrianne Leon/Tammin Sursok).
