Is Y&R's Justin Hartley  good enough  for This Is Us?

The Young and the Restless alum Justin Hartley (ex-Adam Newman) sometimes questions whether or not he's got the chops for This Is Us.

With over a decade of daytime and primetime experience behind him, The Young and the Restless alum Justin Hartley (ex-Adam Newman; ex-Fox Crane, Passions) has gone on to find major success in NBC's breakout hit, This Is Us. But despite all the rave reviews, the actor admits he sometimes questions whether or not his skills are worthy of the popular dramedy.

When asked what the hardest part of his new gig might be, Hartley replied that "servicing" the outstanding scripts is quite a challenge.

"There's nothing worse when you have a job and you read something and you're like, 'God. How am I possibly going to make this work?'" Hartley reveals. "But there's also something very daunting about reading a script and being like, 'Oh my God, I hope I'm good enough to make this work,' which is where I'm at right now."

Though he doesn't call out soap operas specifically, it's hard not to think of the genre when hearing the first part of Hartley's thoughts, simply because many a soap opera actor has expressed frustration with having to make unbelievable material believable. It seems that for Hartley, those days are over. But then again, he never really saw himself as a soap opera actor to begin with.

"I didn't know I was known as the 'daytime guy,'" he shares. "But this show has certainly changed the trajectory of things."
