Y&R casts Cait Fairbanks as new GC singer

The Young and the Restless has cast Cait Fairbanks for the new role of Genoa City singer Tessa Porter.

The Young and the Restless may be getting a bit more of a musical twist. The CBS soap has a singing character slated for Genoa City, and soap opera newcomer Cait Fairbanks has landed the role.

According to Soap Opera Digest, the new young woman is named Tessa Porter, and she's an "upbeat, free-spirited singer with a strong intuition about people." The original casting call went out in December and called the character Ivy.

Fairbanks, who has appeared on Two and a Half Men and K.C. and the Underground, has already begun taping and will first air on Friday, March 24.

No other information about the character has been released, but there is already speculation that Tessa might connect with Victoria's guitar-playing son, Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu).
