Y&R's Doug Davidson addresses exit rumors

Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) sheds light on his iffy status with The Young and the Restless.

The Young and the Restless has lost some major stars in recent weeks, with both Justin Hartley (Adam Newman) and Steve Burton (Dylan McAvoy) leaving to pursue other projects. While news of Hartley's exit wasn't a major surprise due to his primetime role on This Is Us, Burton's farewell announcement came as quite a shock to Genoa City fans. And it somehow sparked a rumor that Dylan's on-screen dad, Doug Davidson (Paul Williams), is leaving the CBS soap as well.

Fortunately, the veteran actor took to Twitter with a reassuring message about his status with the series. "I'm not leaving... unless you know something I don't," Davidson wrote, later joking, "I'd only leave in a body bag... but not to worry, I'm watching my cholesterol."

Davidson is one of the longest-running actors currently starring on Y&R, having joined the show in 1978. At this time, it's unclear if the CBS soap plans to recast Paul's son, meaning fans will have to wait and see if and how Burton's exit as Dylan will affect his on-screen dad.

Are you relieved to hear Davidson isn't leaving Y&R? Would you like to see the show recast Dylan, or would you rather see a dramatic storyline that ushers the character off the canvas?
