Y&R takes a major ratings hit

Daytime's number one soap, The Young and the Restless, has found itself slipping in the ratings game.

Ratings are in for the week of August 8th through August 12th, and the numbers aren't pretty for The Young and the Restless.

The 2016 Summer Olympics took Days of our Lives off the air and out of the ratings game for the time period in question, but the soap's absence didn't translate to a boost in ratings for daytime's number one soap. In fact, Y&R lost 150,000 viewers for the week -- the biggest loss out of all three daytime shows tallied. The soap, which pulled in a total of 4,441,000 fans, also hit a series low in the 18-49 demographic and landed in the minus column for the 18-34 demo, as well.

ABC's General Hospital also had a bad week while the Olympics aired. The show lost 63,000 in total viewers, coming in with 2,526,000 overall. And to make matters worse, it tied its all-time low in both the women 18-49 and women 18-34 demographics.

CBS' The Bold and the Beautiful, however, gained 92,000 total viewers for the week with a final tally of 3,721,000 tuning in. Unfortunately, it also tied its all-time low in the women 18-34 category.
