Y&R alum Susan Walters joins The Flash

Fall TV just got a little better, because The Young and the Restless alum Susan Walters (ex-Diane Jenkins) has joined The Flash.

Get ready for a whirlwind of excitement when The Flash returns to The CW this fall, because The Young and the Restless alum Susan Walters (ex-Diane Jenkins; ex-Lorna Forbes, Loving) is headed to the popular series.

The actress, who's known to many as The Vampire Diaries' Carol Lockwood but wowed daytime fans in Genoa City from 2001 to 2010, has signed on for the role of Caitlin Snow's (Danielle Panabaker) mother, Dr. Carla Tannhauser, EW.com reports.

The doctor is described as a "world class biomedical engineer and CEO of a major research company" -- which explains where Caitlin gets her formidable scientific mind. But it seems the mother and daughter have quite a difficult relationship, with Caitlin finding her mother cold and withholding, while Carla views her daughter as rebellious and ungrateful.

Watch for Walters in the role, which could become recurring, when The Flash returns to The CW on Tuesday, October 4, at 8PM ET.
