Attention Y&R and Justin Hartley fans: CBS casts its MacGyver

Rumors have been swirling for months that CBS was eyeing The Young and the Restless' Justin Hartley (Adam Newman) to play the title character of its upcoming remake of the 1980s hit MacGyver, but will the Genoa City fave be stepping into the role, after all?

Fans of Justin Hartley who might have been worried he'd be walking away from the role of The Young and the Restless' Adam Newman to take on the title character of CBS's upcoming remake of the classic 1980s series MacGyver can breathe a sigh of relief, because the actor won't be taking on the iconic role, after all.

Though rumors have been swirling for months that Hartley was being considered for the part of MacGyver, originally played by Richard Dean Anderson, Variety reports the network has chosen X-Men star Lucas Till to play the popular problem-solving character instead.

However, there's still a chance Hartley may depart Genoa City if his pilot -- The Untitled Dan Fogelman Pilot, which also stars Mandy Moore and Alan Thicke -- is picked up by NBC later this year. For more information on that project, check out Soap Central's original article here.
