The Young and the Restless' Justin Hartley (Adam Newman) is just about to finish up shooting his previously announced role in an NBC pilot starring actors like Mandy Moore and Sterling Brown, leaving soap fans wondering if he'll soon be exiting Genoa City.
The Young and the Restless' Justin Hartley (Adam Newman) certainly isn't suffering from any growing pains in his career, having landed a gig outside of daytime that places him squarely in the center of several major stars, including popular TV dad Alan Thicke.
Several days ago, Thicke posted a picture of himself posing with Hartley on the social media site Twitter. He captioned it, "My latest TV son, @Hartleyjustin Fun on Fox! #boyswillbeboys @FOXTV #justinhartley," which left many wondering just what project the former Growing Pains star was referring to.
After a bit of sleuthing, fans and writers have finally uncovered the details. Thicke was most likely referring to The Untitled Dan Fogelman Pilot, the 20th Century Fox produced NBC pilot Hartley joined back in November. As Soap Central previously reported, Hartley plays a handsome television actor bored of his bachelor lifestyle. The series centers around eight core characters (including Hartley) who share the same birthday. According to Backstage, filming on the project began on January 26 in New York City and wraps up today.

While the news is certainly exciting for the Y&R actor, it has left many wondering if his time in Y&R's Genoa City is nearing an end. Nabbing the actor in 2014 was quite a catch for the CBS soap, as he came with a primetime audience from his roles on shows like Mistresses and Smallville. So it wouldn't be a surprise if this NBC pilot takes him away from daytime if it gets picked up.
This isn't the first time Hartley has been rumored to be considering leaving Y&R for greener pastures. Fans experienced a bit of panic back in October when gossip had the actor as the first in line for the lead role in CBS' upcoming remake of the 1980s hit MacGyver.
At this time, there's no word on how The Untitled Dan Fogelman Pilot will affect Hartley's status at Y&R. it all depends on whether or not NBC decides to pick up the project later this year.
What do you think about Hartley joining the NBC pilot? Do you wish him and the show success, or are you selfishly hoping he'll stick around at Y&R?
