Huge achievement celebrated by CBS soap

The numbers are in, and The Young and the Restless is officially the most watched daytime soap opera for the 27th year in a row.

Ah, what a feeling to be on top. And no show knows the great feeling better than CBS' The Young and the Restless, which has managed to snag the title of daytime's number one drama for the 27th year in a row.

The Nielsen ratings for the week of December 11, 2015, reveal that, throughout the course of the year, the lives of the characters in Genoa City managed to pull in more viewers than the lives of those in Days of our Lives' Salem, General Hospital's Port Charles, and The Bold and the Beautiful's Los Angeles -- yet again.

"Spending a few seasons at #1 is a remarkable achievement for any show in television today, but to accomplish 27 years at the top is truly Hall of Fame status," said Angelica McDaniel, Head of CBS Daytime and Syndicated Development. "This success is a testament to the incredible passion and hard work of the cast, staff and crew on The Young and the Restless, led by [executive producers] Jill Farren Phelps and Charles Pratt, Jr., Sony Pictures, Bell Dramatic Serial Company and CBS Daytime. All of our efforts would mean nothing without the most dedicated fans in daytime who have made Genoa City their home, many for years. Congratulations to all involved for this success!"

In key women demographics, Y&R has been first in women 25-54 for 459 out of the last 461 weeks and first in women 18-49 in 453 of 457 weeks.
