Terrell Tilford back to Y&R

Terrell Tilford back to Y&R

Guess who will be hot on the heels of Angell Conwell's Leslie when she returns to Y&R's Genoa City? Her fictional hubby, Dr. Barton Shelby, played by Terrell Tilford.

They say good things come in pairs, which is certainly the case regarding The Young and the Restless' latest casting news. First it was announced that Angell Conwell would be returning as Leslie, and now comes word that Terrel Tilford is returning as the character's hubby, Dr. Barton Shelby.

"Y&R and I had actually discussed some [return] dates before but they just didn't work out for us, but now I'm thrilled to be able to come back," Tilford explains in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest. "I always wanted to be a part of Y&R in whatever capacity, so this is great."

In addition to what he says is challenging, gripping material, the actor is also excited to return to his TV wife, Conwell. "We're like kids when we see each other because our scenes are very often not together... We shot out first scene and it kind of started right off very businesslike. I went to the writers and producers and asked, 'Can we just have a little moment of intimacy to remind people that, 'Oh yeah, they're married,'" he reveals. "We wanted something that was natural and the show was great about it."

Since last appearing in Genoa City last year, Tilford has been busy at his other job as Eric on Switched at Birth, as well as dad to his new daughter, Marley, whom he shares with wife Victoria Platt (ex-Vicky, Guiding Light). "I can lay in bed and play with Marley forever and then realize, 'Man, I've got to get up and eat and go to the gym," he says of the seven-month-old. "I know parents say their kid's amazing, but every day for us she does something that makes us go, 'Wow!' It's our own little awesomeness."
