John Driscoll goes from 'reel' to real soldier

The Young and the Restless alum John Driscoll is taking soap fiction and turning it into real-life reality. The actor has enlisted in the Armed Forces. In addition to playing Chance on Y&R, Driscoll also appeared as Coop Bradshaw on Guiding Light.

John Driscoll (Chance Chancellor) has traded his acting shoes for combat boots. Just like his Y&R counterpart, Driscoll has enlisted in the United States military, and his fan site will be on hiatus while he completes his first year of training.

The thirty-one-year-old actor follows in the footsteps of his father, who graduated from West Point and went on to be a lieutenant colonel in the Army. Though Driscoll grew up in a military regimented family, he majored in theater at George Mason University. Driscoll's modeling and acting career peaked with two supporting roles on daytime television.

Last year, Driscoll made news when he filed for a restraining order against a fan.

Driscoll joined The Young and the Restless in July 2009. Chance eventually joined the Army and left Genoa City, headed for the Middle East. Prior to that, the actor appeared for several years on Guiding Light.
