90210 player Blake Hood cast as Kyle

Daytime newcomer Blake Hood has landed the role of Kyle Jenkins Abbott. The actor, who has appeared on the primetime soap 90210, will begin airing in late April.

The Young and the Restless has found its Max -- only, as suspected, the 20something male character will be going by an entirely different name once he hits the screen.

Blake Hood has joined Y&R in the contract role of Kyle Jenkins Abbott, the son of Jack Abbott and the late Diane Jenkins. The trade publication, the Hollywood Reporter first reported on Hood's addition to the cast of The Young and the Restless.

Though this is Hood's first daytime role, the actor does have previous experience with primetime soaps. The actor played Mark Driscoll during a story arc on 90210. Hood also recently appeared on the CBS sitcom, 2 Broke Girls, and on ABC's Desperate Housewives.

Last month, The Young and the Restless released a casting call for a role known as "Max." The description of the character almost immediately raised eyebrows, as fans suspected that the show might be "aging" Kyle.

Max was described in the casting breakdown as "Early 20s. VERY handsome, clean cut, All-American and VERY fit. He is returning to Genoa City from graduating college. He is a great guy and seems to have it all; but he still carries a 'chip' on his shoulder for certain people in his past."

When Kyle was last seen on-screen in 2011, the character was said to be ten years old. Actor Garrett Ryan was then playing the role.

Hood will first air on April 27.
