Sometimes the speed at which information can be disseminated on the Internet is more of a liability than a benefit. An example of that is a soap star's heroic efforts to try to save the life of a drowning victim. Early reports on some 'net sites stated that it was the actor who has passed away.
An already-heartbreaking real-life tragedy involving a soap star has unfortunately resulted in erroneous online reports of that star's death. The confusion first surfaced earlier this week when several web sites reported that The Young and the Restless' Michael Muhney (Adam Wilson) had died in a drowning accident.
"I am fine," Muhney clarified on his personal Twitter page. "It was the gentleman I pulled from the water that died. Tragic loss. Still shaken up. Feel awful for his family."
Muhney stated that while walking along the beach in an undisclosed location, he came across an unknown man in the water. The actor administered CPR until the paramedics arrived, but medics were unable to revive the man, and he died a short time later.
"He passed away," Muhney added. "I did everything I could."
Muhney, who made his first appearance on The Young and the Restless in June 2009, has asked fans to keep the victim and his family in their prayers.
For privacy reasons, no additional information about this incident has been released.
