Thom Bierdz makes surprise return to top-secret Y&R storyline

It's been nearly 20 years since Thom Bierdz made his last appearance as a contract player on Y&R. Rather than tout the actor's return to the show, show execs pulled off one of the most surprising returns in daytime history. Why was the actor's turn kept a secret and what's ahead for his "new" character?

Also of note, Yvonne Zima, who played the role of Dr. Rachael Greene in the series finale of "ER", the long running NBC drama, has been hired by Y&R and her start date is October 30. There has been no information regarding what role she'll play but she's young enough that I believe that she'll be taking over the role of Mac currently beingplayed by Clementine Ford. I think the show has gotten enough bad feedback from fans that they do not care for Clementine's portrayal of Mac that the show has decided to hire a different actress.
