The Young and the Restless is reportedly poised to recast one of its most popular roles in recent years, a role that was played by an Emmy-winning heartthrob. The question is: How will fans react to a new actor in the role?
Soap Opera Digest is reporting that The Young and the Restless has put out a casting call for the role of Malcolm Winters.
The role of Malcolm was originated by Emmy winner Shemar Moore in 1994. The actor remained with the show for eight years, despite being urged by his agents to leave daytime. The actor reprised the role again in 2004 before leaving the following year.
In recent interviews, Moore has continued to express his gratitude to The Young and the Restless. In addition, the actor, who currently appears in the CBS primetime drama series, Criminal Minds, has said that he would always consider returning to his daytime roots if it were feasible for him to do so.
It is unclear if Moore was unavailable or if the show is simply looking to recast the role for storyline or budget reasons.
Malcolm will return to the canvas in November.
