Pat Benatar gives Y&R her best shot

Rocker Pat Benatar is headed to Genoa City to perform at Indigo. While she is in town, Benatar will also try to help one of the townspeople overcome her stagefright. The episodes will air in time for Valentine's Day.

Genoa City will rock next month when singer Pat Benatar and her husband, Neil "Spyder" Giraldo, appear on The Young and the Restless. The pair stopped by Y&R's California studios on January 24th to tape two episodes of the top-rated CBS soap.

In episodes that will air just in time for Valentine's Day, Benatar and Giraldo will perform the song "Every Time I Fall Back" at Indigo, a jazz club owned by Neil Winters. "Every Time" first appeared on Benatar's 1993 album "Gravity's Rainbow." The album was recently reissued.

Benatar's appearance will not be limited to just singing. The actress will also get to test out her acting chops.

In one of Y&R's current storylines, Neil has been trying to convince his girlfriend, Karen Taylor, to sing at Indigo. Karen, however, suffers from stage fright. Benatar will step in and offer Karen some advice to overcoming her fears.

The storyline comes with a bit of a wink to viewers. Karen is portrayed by the multitalented Nia Peeples, who appeared in the television version of the stars-in-the-making film Fame. Peeples also released several albums in the late-1980s and early-1990s. In 1988, she scored a #1 hit on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chat with the song "Trouble."

Recently, Peeples recorded a studio version of "For All Time," the song Karen sang to Neil in early January.

Meanwhile, Benatar's scenes will appear on February 14th and 15th.
