Ashley Abbott returns to Genoa City this week for the first time in a year. The short-term visit does not, however, mean that actress Eileen Davidson is done at The Bold and the Beautiful.
After nearly six months away from Genoa City, Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) is returning home. The Emmy-nominated star will return to The Young and the Restless this week.

, Davidson was given her walking papers from The Young and the Restless after an off-and-on relationship that began way back in 1982. Davidson had not been with The Young and the Restless that entire time - she took time away from the CBS soap to appear on NBC's Santa Barbara and Days of our Lives. In a twist of fate, The Bold and the Beautiful - a spinoff of The Young and the Restless -- came knocking when it learned that Davidson had been let go and the sides inked a deal on the same day that Davidson made her final Y&R appearance.
"Eileen is an extraordinary actress with an unlimited range of talent," B&B executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell said in a statement at the time. " Things will heat up within the family when it comes to light that Ashley has had a secret relationship with one of our core characters."
Since that time, Davidson's story has been on a downward tick. It was the actress' current lack of story that afforded her the opportunity to walk across the parking lot and go to the Y&R studios. Despite the trip back to Genoa City, Davidson is not leaving The Bold and the Beautiful.
Davidson makes her Y&R homecoming on December 28th and January 2nd and 3rd.
