What you need to know about the Dupree family on Beyond the Gates

When Beyond the Gates premieres on February 24th, the Dupree family will take center stage. The filthy rich clan residing in the posh gated community of Fairmont Crest is ready to entertain you with their fabulous lifestyle and intriguing stories in a groundbreaking new daytime drama.

When the NAACP Image Award nominations were announced on January 7, the Duprees, or rather the actors who play them, made a special video congratulating the nominees.

Tamara Tunie, who plays Dupree matriarch Anita, began the video by saying: "We are so excited for each and every one of you and can’t wait to celebrate with you. We’re the cast of the new CBS daytime drama, Beyond the Gates."

Clifton Davis (Vernon Dupree), Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree), and Daphne Duplaix (Nicole Dupree) also introduced themselves, followed by Mosley asking people to tune in soon.

"Our show premieres next month on Monday, February 24 on CBS, just a couple of days after the 56th NAACP Image Awards, which air live on BET," she said.

Meet the Dupree Clan

Vernon Dupree is the patriarch of the family. A former senator living in a DC suburb called Maryland, Vernon was at the forefront of the civil rights movement in the 1960s. He is described as being a gentle and kind man deep down, but he rules his family with an iron fist.

Anita Dupree is Vernon's longtime wife and a former singer. Anita didn't come from money but now enjoys the riches she has and is proud to have raised two successful daughters. She is the backbone of her family but has never forgotten her humble beginnings in Chicago before moving to Maryland to be by her politician husband's side.

Anita and Vernon's oldest daughter, Dr. Nicole Dupree, is a successful psychiatrist who seems to have the perfect life with a surgeon husband by her side. She is warm and compassionate, but what one sees on the outside is not always as it appears. Looks can be deceiving as Nicole's life may not be so perfect after all.

Dani Dupree is Anita and Vernon's youngest daughter. She was once a model but gave it all up to raise a family and run her children's lives. Dani is the wild child Anita and Vernon didn't want. Expect her to cause much drama when Beyond the Gates debuts.
