The Daily Y.A.P.P For Beyond the Gates, April 8th

Welcome to the Beyond the Gates Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What Happened on Beyond the Gates

Today, we saw the first happy family scenes at Martin and Smitty’s place: no shouting, no tense moments, and no leaving the house angry scenes. Smitty and Martin discussed the fashion show and Samantha being Chelsea's assistant for the night, and they even discussed Samantha dating. Yup, you heard me right, no fights or differences of opinion. In one of the sweeter scenes of late, after Martin and Smitty agree to tell Samantha after the fashion show the news that she can start dating, Martin and Smitty share a soft kiss. It’s rare and has been nonexistent lately for the two of them to share affection like that, and it felt like they were back to being a couple. No, Martin didn't share any info of his nightmares with Smitty. That would have been a nice thing to do, but Martin said he had just come from his grandparents' house and had been speaking with Anita and Vernon about his presidency run. Martin then tells Smitty that starting on that path would have him traipsing around the country and being so busy that he would miss out on so much time with Tyrell and Samantha, and the time is limited that the two children will still be at home. The disruption to their life would be too significant, and Martin wanted to talk to Smitty about his thoughts of not running for President, at least not yet. Smitty appreciated that Martin was again talking to him like he was his real partner in life.
