Lindstrom and McClain, who were married in real life from 2014 to 2024, will be playing Joey Armstrong and Pamela Curis. Lindstrom admitted that it was his long professional history and admiration of Beyond the Gates showrunner Michele Val Jean that drew him to the first new daytime soap to premiere in more than 25 years.

Lindstrom also gets to bring his own brand-new character to life. "Joey comes from the other side of the tracks," he explained. "He has fought his way up in many ways, but he’s never lost his charm. Joey runs a casino, which, if you’ve ever been inside a casino, you know, a casino is kind of like what a bar is to an alcoholic. So, people can get into a lot of trouble around Joey, and Joey doesn’t like trouble. He knows how to end trouble, but he doesn’t like trouble"

McClain is also excited about her new role and all the soapy things she will get to do with her friend and costar, Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree). The three-time Daytime Emmy winner said, "We have so much fun —probably too much fun. We play very, very, very, very, very dear old friends, and we get up to a bit of trouble."

Jon Lindstrom made his soap opera debut on the short-lived syndicated soap Rituals in 1984 before moving on to a brief but memorable role as Santa Barbara's Mark McCormack in 1985. In 1992, he joined the cast of General Hospital as Ryan Chamberlain and later began playing Ryan's brother, Kevin Collins. Lindstrom has played the twin doctors on and off ever since and still currently recurs as good twin Kevin. In between GH stints, Lindstrom also played Craig Montgomery on As the World Turns.

McClain came to soap fame as Dixie Cooney on All My Children in 1988, a role she played on and off until the soap's cancelation in 2011. In between All My Children stints, McClain was As the World Turns' Rosanna Cabot, where she met Lindstrom. McClain has also appeared as Kelly Andrews on The Young and the Restless and Jennifer Deveraux on Days of our Lives.

Beyond the Gates premieres on CBS on Monday, February 24 at 2 PM EST and will also stream on Paramount +.
