The new daytime serial Beyond the Gates debuts next month on CBS, and excitement is growing as the launch date approaches. Actress Tamara Tunie shared a preview of the first major sit-down interview some of the cast did with CBS.
Beyond the Gates is ready to go
CBS News Sunday Morning is marking the countdown to the new CBS soap Beyond the Gates’ premiere. On Sunday, January 19th, Nancy Giles will go behind the scenes of the show, which follows a powerful and prestigious multigenerational family in a Maryland suburb, one of the most affluent Black counties in the United States.
On Instagram, Tamara Tunie, who plays Anita Dupree in the new sudser, shared a video clip of an upcoming interview she did with some of her castmates.
“Courtesy of @cbssundaymorning :: @cbstv debuts “Beyond the Gates” in February, a new soap opera about a prominent African American family in a gated Washington, D.C., community. Nancy Giles speaks with the cast (Clifton Davis, Tamara Tunie Daphnée Duplaix,, and Karla Mosley.),” Tunie shared.
“This is the first hour-long daytime drama centered on an African American family,” Clifton Davis, who will star as Vernon Dupree, says. “Full stop: so that’s historic!” replies Nancy Giles during the interview. Cast members Tunie, Daphnée Duplaix (Dr. Nicole Dupree), and Karla Mosely (Dani Dupree) emphatically agreed.
“We’re really proud of that. And it speaks to, in my view, how far we’ve come. And I look around, and I could almost weep, how wonderful it is to be a part of this movement, this rush, this wave, that’s coming over the arts,” Davis added.
“Don’t miss it! A whole feature on #BeyondTheGates, including an on-camera interview with @SheilaDucks [Sheila Ducksworth] and Yours Truly,” wrote Michele Val Jean on X (formerly Twitter). Michele Val Jean is the creator, head writer, executive producer, and showrunner. She worked on The Bold and the Beautiful for over a decade and was head writer at General Hospital before that. Sheila Ducksworth is the president of CBS’ production partnership with the NAACP and an executive producer on the show.
CBS released the first sneak peek of the show last month, sharing a video that included clips of the first episodes. It was captioned, "Are you ready to step inside?🔑🚪 Beyond the Gates premieres February 24th on @cbstv."
