Beyond the Gates star, Timon Kyle Durrett will play Bill Hamilton when the new CBS sudser premieres on February 24th, but in the meantime, the actor is sharing his other talent and passion for art.
Timon Kyle Durrett of Beyond the Gates
Timon Kyle Durrett of Beyond the Gates was inspired last year to share his hidden talents with followers on Instagram. He posted a photo of himself at an art exhibit at The PATH Museum in Atlanta. “Peace Peace, Good People! I’ve been a bit reclusive lately because I’ve been delving more into my other creative love that many of you don’t know about: Art,” Durrett captioned.
The Beyond the Gates star credited “three super dope human beings,” artists Frank Morrison and Kevin “Wak” Williams, and his niece (and artist), Tasanee Durrett for being his inspiration. Durrett attended Frank Morrison’s Open Reception at the museum last summer. “I’m finally beginning to emerge from my cocoon so I can share with all you what I’ve been working on. Real Talk, I’m pretty geeked. Can’t wait to share,” Durrett announced.
Timon Kyle Durrett is an artist and craftsman
Since then, the actor has been revealing works of art that he has done behind the scenes, and they are incredible. He posted a video he had taken when he gifted a specialized portrait of Queen Sugar co-star Nicholas L. Ashe. “Shout out to @nckash aka Micah on #queensugar. His reception of my work warmed my heart. This was my first attempt at creating an engraved wooden portrait. So, I hope y’all enjoy it as much as he does. And be on the lookout, because I have more pieces like this and others to share,” Durrett said.
Durrett then shared a video of another piece that he had done using the same unique media. He captioned, “Peace Peace, Good People! Today is another twist on #tbt aka Timon’s Throwback Thursdays. This throwback is from May 2021, where I gifted my second engraved wooden piece to this awesome and inspiring genius. Thank You @ava for such a gracious reception of my work, and shout out to you and the entire @arraynow family for making a home for it. Stay on the lookout, y’all. I have even more pieces like this and others to share.”
Durrett stayed true to the offer and explained his style in another video and how he created his pieces. But then he took it a step further and shared that he was also a craftsman. He got amazed reactions when he shared a set of tables he had made with his personal artistic touch.
Accompanying a video on his Instagram account, Durrett captioned, “Peace Peace, Good People! Last week, I told y’all that art is one of my other creative loves. I’ve been an artist since I was very young. I’ve also worked with various tools since then. So I figured, why not merge my artistry with my craftsmanship?” Durrett shared other pieces he designed and built, like an engraved coffee table.
