Beyond the Gates comings and goings: Keith D. Robinson in as a recast Ted Richardson 

New CBS soap Beyond The Gates just announced its very first recast. Keith D. Robinson is taking over the role of Dr. Ted Richarson from Maurice Johnson beginning in May, according to Deadline.

Robinson, of Dreamgirls fame, who has most recently been seen in the relatively new TV series, Conspirators, shared the news on Instagram.

Ted's life is about to get complicated

Robinson joins the cast of Beyond the Gates as Dr. Ted Richardson's story heats up. Ted is a respected member of the Fairmont Crest community and is regarded as a loving husband and father and a highly acclaimed plastic surgeon. Currently, Dr. Richardson and his family are on the brink of a colossal scandal as it has been revealed that not only did Dr. Richardson have an affair with Leslie (Trisha Mann) during his enduring marriage to Dr. Nicole Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix), but that this affair resulted in an illegitimate child, Eva (Ambyr Michelle). Currently, Ted's secret is safe from his family, which includes his loving wife Nicole, and daughter Kat (Colby Muhammad). However, Leslie and Eva are acting out Leslie's scheme of revenge by infiltrating the Richardson household from within.

The series, which marks one month on the air on March 24, is the first new daytime soap to premier since 1999, has received positive reviews both online and with critics, receiving a 100% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.4 out of 10 on IMDb. The series, the first Black-led daytime soap opera in many years, also stars Tamara Tunie, Clifton Davis, Karla Mosley, Simon Kyle Turrett, Marquita Goings, Jibre Hordges, Brandon Claybon, RhoniRose Mantilla, Maurice P. Kerry, Sean Freeman, Mike Manning, Alex Alegria, Jen Jacob, Ben Gavin, Najah Jackson, Jaden Lucas Miller, and Arielle Prepetit.

Fairmont Crest, the gated Maryland community where the fictional show takes place, is home to the Duprees, as well as the Richardsons and Hamiltons. The soap follows the lives of the prestigious Dupree family as they navigate the murky waters of betrayal, politics, affairs, and the like.

As of right now, a reason for the recast has not been given.
