Beyond the Gates is now less than a week away, and fans are talking about their hopes and wishes for the new soap.

With the launch of any new show made by a network that produces daytime dramas you already watch, there are expectations and hopes. There are things that your fave shows do well, and you hope that the new show also has these same attributes. Unfortunately, there are also things that fans sometimes think they do poorly, and we all hope that these lessons aren’t repeated.

The hype wagon is loaded with behind-the-scenes, the intro show, Welcome to the Neighborhood, has been airing, and the set pieces look amazing. Let's dive in to see what the fans do and don't want in this new sudser. Here is what they are saying on the Soap Central message boards.

In a message thread entitled, “I hope this show doesn't have Untouchable characters,” user NEWURAQT wrote, “Like Sonny Corinthos who can get away with murder and Just Like Victor Newman always wins no matter what.”

EricaKane1770 said, “100% agree as a GH fan. That's one thing they can learn NOT to do from GH.” Believeinme246 added, “I fully agree, and have concern based on some of the writers chosen. I hope that they've learned what not to do since then.”

RoccoG1996 said, “The minute you become loyal to a certain character and they become the centerpiece of a show, other characters lose and so does the fans. Too many recast, too many focus on one particular character becomes a recipe for bad ratings. All soaps are in a bad place because of that. Take B&B Ridge, when RM left so should have Ridge.”

However, the anticipation is real, and viewers are waiting to see before judging. As Salter wrote, “I saw a crazy over the top Real Housewives / Love and HipHop Atlanta type drama. I will give it a chance for a week.”

Soap fans, as they should, have some expectations for Beyond the Gates, like not having immortal characters who can get away with anything (which soon gets tiring and becomes unbelievable). Still, the drama side of it is already appealing to some, and we all hope this new show delivers.

From what I have seen so far, we have some very interesting and well-played characters with some great dialogue. The set pieces look incredible, and the attention to detail hasn't gone unnoticed. Another thing that looks nice is the outside filming — we get to see characters arrive at a scene rather than just enter a scene, and little things like this get us, as viewers, to invest in the show. I have already picked who my new favorite character will be. Have you? Let me know in the comments below.

Watch the Beyond the Gates premiere on February 24th on CBS and Paramount Plus.
