On Beyond the Gates, Derek (Ben Gavin) and Ashley (Jen Jacob) moved in together and that was exactly as predicted. The thing was awkward and the stereotypical disaster situation, complete with potential mother-in laws help.

The move started with Derek moving his favorite ratchet chair, it even has a name, "of course it does," quips Ashley. She was hoping that the chair would remain at Derek's old place to be left in the loving care of his roommates. Ashley was disappointed that the chair would be taking up real estate in theri new shared space, if that wasn't enough, mum turned up with the gigantic moose head that was waiting in the hallway. Have you ever seen a moose head? Thank goodness the rest of the moose was in another undisclosed place, the head was massive enough, and if there was a man cave in the basement, it would make a fine addition but Ashley is a girly girl, and one that does not appreciate the remains of successful hunting trips. Mum's arrival was full of “I’m here to give you all the help you didn't need and offer all the advice you dont want and need less.”

Ashleys exasperated face said it all, we could all feel Ashleys pain. Today's scenes were brought to you by the letter C and the word compromise. For anyone who’s ever moved in together with their partner you’ll know it’s true. Except Derek and Ashley, I'm not sure they know how, nor really want to. It was a rushed decision to move in together, and kind of a forced decision for Derek to move in with Ashley as his place had roommates. Derek wanted to install a giant shower caddy in the bathroom by screwing it into the ceiling was gold, the thing was the size of a jumbotron and was as needed as another hole in his head. Why was it needed? So Derek could have somewhere to put all the stuff that doesn't need to smell like chrysanthemums. Ashley said she had a very specific method of organising shelves and that she could train Derek in its use and application.

Derek was aghast and said he wasn't about to learn her anal shelving method, and we’re off to a great start on the first move-in scene on Beyond the Gates, but wait, mum isn't finished with helping, Jan (Jerri Tubbs) suggests that they split a cupboard and one half can be shelved how one feels and the other shelved in the way of choice the other wants. No, they both yell in unison. Not even through the first day. Cannot wait to see more of this train wreck. This will either make or break the duo. What did you think of the move-in?
