Here's what went down Thursday, April 24, 2025, on Beyond the Gates, when bedding down with Doug wasn't enough for Vanessa, Hayley's oven turned out to be without a bun, and Kat did her best Sherlock Holmes.
What happened on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Tomás met Kat at the country club, where he wasn't quite used to being a member. Kat told Tomás to get used to it because his being closer to making partner at Bill's firm was impressive. Tomás got an update about Dani turning down ChelseaKat's CMO role and received a shock when he learned Kat was shopping for a new spy cam to replace the one Nicole had confiscated. Kat mentioned catching Eva snooping through Nicole's confidential files and how she was all but certain that Eva had erased her security footage.
When Tomás asked if Kat thought Eva was after Fairmont Crest secrets, Kat surmised that Eva had been targeting her parents, who had been too trusting – Kat also wondered why Eva was so invested in arranging the Richardsons' anniversary party. Tomás advised Kat to be positive before throwing around accusations. “It's like I'm in the first half of a horror film,” Kat described, worried that she might already be too late to stop Eva. Tomás offered to help Kat find out more about Eva, though he cautioned against using the law firm's resources to obtain intel.
Rather, Tomás suggested employing insight instead of spying. Kat charged Eva with throwing herself at Tomás to get back at her; though Tomás assured Kat she didn't need to be jealous, he did pass on how Eva had had “a big reaction” to the idea of a father and daughter going to war with each other re: Naomi's suit. While Tomás was loath to betray any more confidences, he reluctantly gave in when Kat was desperate to protect her family and mentioned how Eva had gone into her family history with him. Kat recollected meeting the intense “Anna,” who had told her to stay away from Eva. Tomás pinged, sure the woman who had raised Eva was instead named “Leslie.”
Tomás went on to recount how Eva had been envious of Kat's relationship with her father; Kat asked who Eva's father was, but Tomás didn't know. Kat was ready to capitalize on the information, starting with Anna/Leslie, who was even more off than “that little orphan Eva,” and cut out on her lunch date with Tomás to do so.
Nicole visited the bored Laura at the hospital; Laura felt she was failing her boss. Laura thanked Nicole for her latest bouquet of flowers, but a confused Nicole stated that she hadn't sent flowers before. Laura relayed that Eva had brought the previous arrangement and was happy to be recovering from her heart stopping. Nicole praised Eva's hard work, but remarked to Laura that no one could replace her. Dr. Richardson then asked into the potassium spike that had precipitated Laura's myocardial infarction, a mineral level that had returned to normal after the attack. Laura said that her doctor had concurred that someone on staff would pick up if Laura had accidentally been given an excess of potassium. Laura accounted that she wasn't taking supplements of any kind and looked forward to being back working for the Richardsons in a matter of weeks. Nicole promised to find out who had hurt Laura.
Eva called Leslie a pathological liar and flamed her for coming back to the club in disguise after telling her to leave. Leslie became menacing and asked how Eva dared to speak to her that way, demanding her daughter's respect. Eva calmed and said she had blindly done everything Leslie had asked of her – it was just that Leslie kept going rogue, and Leslie's wigs didn't make her unrecognizable. Eva explained how she had kept Ted from catching Leslie and wanted to know why Leslie would take such a risk...or why Leslie would start lying to Eva now when they were so close to carrying out their plan.
“I'm just returning the favor,” Leslie retorted, accusing Eva of lying to her. Leslie knew that Eva had said she was meeting a cake vendor when she was really reporting to Nicole. Eva was dismayed that Leslie had checked her phone and submitted that Leslie got riled up every time she mentioned Nicole, so she had fibbed. Leslie reiterated that she was the one who had ordered Eva to get close to Nicole...via a job Leslie had made sure Eva had gotten. Eva's silent reaction made Leslie think Eva still suspected her of running Laura off the road and giving her a heart attack. Leslie needed to know that Eva didn't consider her capable of such acts.
Eva replied that she knew Leslie couldn't hurt anyone, and that she had lied because Leslie kept taking unnecessary chances – it was as if her mom wanted to ruin their scheme. Leslie promised there was a reason for everything she did; she wanted the Richardsons to be able to look back and see that Leslie had been toying with them from the beginning. Ms. Thomas hoped the couple would feel like fools, because that was how they had made Leslie feel. She pleaded for Eva to let her have her revenge the way she had envisioned it. Eva allowed this and hugged Leslie, but looked concerned once she was out of Leslie's view.
Leslie purred that everything was coming together and that it was only “two more sleeps” until Ted and Nicole's party. Moments after Leslie left on a grocery run, Kat showed up on the surprised Eva's door. “You're not the only one who can look through files,” Kat gloated when Eva asked how she'd found her address. Kat looked around, inquiring about Leslie; Eva was truthful and reported that Leslie had gone to the store. Kat apologized for her poor treatment of Eva, citing feeling threatened by the instant closeness Eva had developed with Kat's parents.
Eva remembered how Kat had dogged her for her “fugly” fashion sense upon their first meeting and assumed Ted and Nicole had sent their daughter to make nice. “You really think there's a world where we're suddenly like sisters?” Eva asked incredulously after Kat admitted, realizing she needed to accept Eva for her parents' sake. Kat didn't see that happening, but she did suggest hitting reset – “with me not being a total bitch to you, and you not pushing my buttons.” Eva smirked about Kat owning being a bitch and ran to her bedroom to answer her ringing phone.
Kat took advantage of the moment and snapped a pic of a framed photo of Eva and Leslie – who returned from the store and caught Kat snooping. Leslie pretended not to know who Kat was, but Kat thought back to meeting “Anna” and realized that “Anna” and Leslie were the same person. Both Leslie and the returned Eva noticed Kat's bewildered expression and how quickly she hightailed it out of their apartment. “What the hell was that?” Leslie questioned irately.
At the casino, Joey let Randy know that he had learned someone had been placing bets for Doug. Randy came clean about Doug's winning $50,000 lottery scratch-off and how Doug had bet it all on a bum horse race, trying to parlay his windfall into enough to pay Joey back. Joey deemed Doug a loser and informed Randy that he had put in the fix with the bookie Randy had approached. Armstrong warned Randy to “lose the nostalgia” and added that he was making inroads with Vanessa in terms of using her real estate firm to launder money. “That woman is drawn to the dark side,” Joey observed.
Doug and Vanessa finished making love, and Doug shared that he felt like when he'd first met Vanessa at 17 and they'd had sex in her parents' bedroom “behind the gates.” Vanessa didn't recall nearly being spanked with a cast back then and marveled at Doug spontaneously whisking her away to a hotel room for a romp. Doug flashed back to watching Joey put his hand on Vanessa's leg at Uptown and mentioned that her “audacious” expression there had gotten him going. When Doug asked what Vanessa had been thinking about in that moment, she merely said that selling a house made her hot.
Dr. McBride remembered that Vanessa had never been embarrassed about being rich, which he'd initially found intimidating. Vanessa knew that Doug would make his own money one day and reminisced about how she'd come to realize she'd build her forever home with him. Doug became somber, realizing how the luck he'd had with Vanessa in the beginning hadn't lasted. Vanessa looked away but acknowledged that they might have just stopped reaching for each other over the years.
Doug wished things were like the old days, when he and Vanessa would have make-up sex that made them forget what they'd fought about. The McBrides were glad that lovemaking could still be great between them. A missed call of Doug's broke the tenuous mood; the surgeon said he had to follow up with a patient, and, when he left their bed to get ready, Vanessa made her own call, agreeing “the last guy you sent would be perfect.”
Randy found Doug at the casino; Doug claimed he was testing himself to see if he could be there and still walk out untempted. When Doug asked for Joey, Randy said Doug had just missed him. Meanwhile, at Uptown, Vanessa texted the “guy,” informing him she'd have to punish him for being late – but Joey confronted her, amazed that Vanessa would use an escort service when there were plenty of men around who would give her what she wanted for free. “You're looking at one of them,” Joey growled.
Vanessa tried to slap Joey for his “insolence,” but Joey stopped her and signaled that he might like it. Mrs. McBride was floored when Joey revealed that he owned the escort service that she used. She was certain that Joey thought less of her, but he presented himself as a substitute for the man she had ordered. Joey labeled Vanessa the most intriguing woman he had ever known...and one who was no longer in love with her husband.
Doug berated himself for losing the small fortune that had fallen into his lap, and, studying his cast, he decided he had everything to lose. As he asked Randy what was wrong with him, Randy posited that there was darkness in every man. “You can't fix what you can't face,” Doug's friend imparted. Doug appreciated how Randy was always looking out for him; Randy confessed that he'd always felt inspired by Doug, who had narrowly escaped “the neighborhood” and made something of himself. Randy was confident Doug could escape gambling as well, but when left on his own, Doug made a call asking to see someone the next day.
Vanessa disagreed with Joey's contention that her stepping out on her marriage said a lot about the state of that marriage. “Who says 'in love' anymore?” Vanessa balked when Joey disputed her feelings for Doug; she notified Mr. Armstrong that she and Doug had “reconnected” earlier. Joey found the timing of Vanessa making love to her husband after they had flirted so heavily “interesting.” Vanessa didn't want to put the work into rebuilding things with Doug, only for it not to work out. “Doug has had years to prove he's man enough for you,” Joey responded, smoldering. He added that if it were up to him, Vanessa would never be disappointed.
Hayley joined Bill, who offered her a mocktail given her condition. She took a real drink, announcing that she wasn't pregnant after all; three home pregnancy tests had confirmed it. When Hayley asked if Bill was relieved, he confessed he had doubted if he could begin parenting from scratch again at his age, but also that he had come around to it. Bill was all right if he and Hayley ended up never having their own children, yet he couldn't help feeling sad that Hayley wasn't expecting after all. Hayley proffered that if they wanted to deviate from their original childless plans and have a baby anyway, they could. Mrs. Hamilton wanted to put in “the work” – but when Bill carried Hayley to bed, his hand started shaking again.
