Beyond the Gates: Anita avenges Dani's firing by destroying Hanna 

On Beyond the Gates, Anita Dupree showed just how much power the Dupree family wields, after coming to the rescue of her daughter Dani. Vernon however is just window dressing.

The Duprees on Beyond the Gates

Beyond the Gates has done an excellent job of showcasing the power the Dupree family has. Vernon (Clifton Davis) the ex Senator and his wife Anita (Tamara Tunie) ex much accoladed singer are a true power couple. Not much happens within Fairmont Crest without their knowledge or blessing. They can have criminal investigations change course through personal relationships with prominent figures and on today's episode airing Thursday 10 April, 2025, the Duprees again pulled the strings or should I say cut the purse strings on the First Gen Foundation.

The First Gen Foundation sponsored Dani Dupree’s fashion show, in full knowledge that it would make a shed ton of money for the foundation, and that afterwards Hannah representing the foundation would fire Dani from her position on the charity board. That's a pretty underhanded move to be sure, but that was exactly what happened. The fashion show was a rousing success and made, as was hoped, a shed ton of money. Hannah ( met with Dani at the Country Club, which was also hosting Bill and Hayleys brazen display of their union LOL. The meeting completely blindsided Dani who asked as to why she was being fired and it was laid out that Dani’s behaviour at the wedding of Bill (Timon Kyle Durett) and Hayley (Marquita Goings) where Dani shot the place up. This was no way to be a role model for the foundation and was grounds to terminate her position.

Dani gets the axe but it falls on Hannah

Fair call, that was, an understatement to say that Dani didn't exemplify the behavior of someone on the board for the charity. What got under the skin of Anita was that they allowed Dani to put her heart and soul into the fashion show, make the money and then be flung away. Anita wasn't going to let some jive turkey take advantage of her daughter like that. Anita and Vernon hosted Hannah at the Dupree mansion and proceeded to blindside Hannah. Tit for tat? Maybe, but damn it looked good, seeing Anita listen to Hannah then pull the rug out from under her.

Anita told Hannah that she was removing the First Gen Foundation from under the Dupree Heritage Trust thereby removing any all funding, but not just happy with hamstringing them, Anita went for the jugular and made the point of telling Hannah that she was creating an identical charity foundation, to do exactly the same thing as First Gen, providing college scholarships. This makes First Gen penniless and obsolete. I would have liked to see Vernon take a stronger role in the family and not just be window dressing for Anita Dupree, but heck, Anita tore Hannah a new one and showed why, you do NOT, mess with the Duprees. To put salt in the wound and maybe some vinegar too, Anita told Hannah that she could always beg Dani for a job at the new foundation, and maybe Dani would be more merciful than she would. Game set and match. A master class in family first, last and always.
