Netflix recently aired Zombieverse Season 2, New Blood, on November 19, 2024. The second season of the Korean reality TV show released all seven episodes on the premiere day.
The official synopsis for the Zombieverse Season 2 Episode 1 reads,
"A new group of evacuees arrive on Jeju Island, the zombie-free safe haven. They've never faced zombies before, but their luck is about to run out!"
The Zombieverse Season 2 introduced evacuees who had gone to Jeju Island. After arriving at the safe haven, the group faces zombies for the first time, and their quests begin. While fighting against zombies throughout, the Zombieverse Season 2 Episode 1 ended with a cliffhanger.
What happened in Zombieverse Season 2 Episode 1? Recap explored
The Zombieverse Season 2 Episode 1 started with an announcement which stated that there have already been ten days since then,
"Outbreak of a new virus dubbed the "Zombie Virus." It has spread across the Korean Peninsula. Due to exponential growth of the infection rate, Seoul and the surrounding areas are on lockdown. The government has declared a national state of emergency."
An emergency transport vehicle arrives at Jeju Island's safe haven with a new group of evacuees. They are instructed to undergo three days of mandatory quarantine.
A few of the evacuees, as described in Zombieverse Season 2's first episode, include:
- Cho Sae-Ho: A groom-to-be with his wedding approaching - Fled to Jeju alone
- Yook Sung-Jae: Forced out of UDO while fishing - Didn't believe in the virus
- Taeyeon: Escaped to Jeju with her manager - Ended up on a truck after separation
They all entered Jeju Island's designated temporary quarantine facility, originally an abandoned resort that was then converted into a quarantine facility. While entering, they went through a disinfection tunnel.
The players encountered many groups of people working and moving around inside the quarantine facility. Soon, the Chief Officer greeted the players and shared how they could get anything from the relief camp and more.
There was another player,
- Kim Seon-Tae: An official from Chungju City who was dispatched due to a staff shortage
The evacuees came across some individuals playing Ping-Pong, among which they saw another player,
- Defconn: Flew to Jeju after the news: He was adapting quickly.
He mentioned that CoKun was also there, in an inside establishment. The group went to see CoKun, who was busy making survival tools,

The evacuees arrived at an indoor area where CoKun was helping some of their fellow evacuees with their injuries. They encountered many individuals who had come there looking for their lost family members.
Soon, Defconn joined the group and shared,
"We need to focus. We all know each other. We have to stick together and help each other out. We've gotta be able to depend on each other. The world may be ending, but we're still entertainers with a job to do, right?"
The group came across two more players,
- Dindin: Experienced with Zombie outbreaks, went through hell
- Tsuki: Also experienced and has unexpected survival skills.
While getting their first meal, the group saw another player,
- Andre Rush: Stopped by Jeju for a shoot, but people found out he's a chef, So he was forced to do volunteer work.
The next batch of evacuees arrived at the camp, which consisted of all the individuals with zombie symptoms.
Zombieverse Season 2 - First quest: Escape the front yard in 1 minute
Soon, the players faced their first quest on Zombieverse Season 2. They were given one minute to escape the front yard. While they were running through the yard, Tsuki took a wrong turn. Soon, new survivors join the group, and they rush to save Tsuki, who had a close encounter with zombies.
On the other hand, a few evacuees were in the indoor area, witnessing zombies attack from a distance and being shocked. Soon, a few zombies managed to enter the indoor area and started killing humans around them. Players hid under some tables, going through their first encounter with zombies.
To overcome those "five weak zombies," there were necessary items available, which were, as the show described,
"Subdue beginner-level zombies and escape."
The cast members tried covering zombies with blankets, but it didn't work. Next, they tried trapping zombies in tents, but that plan didn't go well.
They planned to lure away zombies, and CoKun took the lead because he was the fastest. While doing that, CoKun was left alone, surrounded by zombies after the rest of the players could not trap any of the zombies.
Soon, they witnessed a new survivor join the group. It was the chef Andre, whom the group had seen earlier that day and discussed his physique.
As soon as Andre arrived, he lifted one zombie, covered him with a blanket, and trapped him in the tent. Out of the five zombies, one was captured. He then helped the players trap one more zombie.
With help from Andre, the group captured the third zombie and secured his mouth with stockings so that he could not bite anyone and infect them. Soon, the participants also captured the remaining two zombies.
The first practice quest was completed, and all six participants survived the quest.
Zombieverse Season 2 Episode 1 - Second quest:
Players reached the lower section of the facility with a dead end. The quest was:
"Escape the dead end and head for the escape route."
For that, crossing the stream was their "only option." While exploring the area, they saw the cables approaching the other side. Players made a plan to cross the stream using the cables.
Along with them, they also saw some pipes, which the first player, Dex, went across and then arranged for the rest of the players to cross the stream easily.
Dex, a skilled drill instructor, quickly crossed the stream using the cable and shocked everyone. Soon, as the rest of the players were crossing the stream, they saw more zombies approaching them in the water. Seeing zombies moving quickly towards the players, they jumped in the water and crossed the stream.
To escape, they needed to cross the entire front yard, which was filled with many injured and dead people. While crossing that, more zombies soon approached the participants, who panicked as they separated.
The Zombieverse Season 2 Episode 1 ended with players trapped on top of containers. The exit was blocked, and there was no other way out while they were all surrounded by zombies.
They saw a safety net near a construction site, where Dindin ran and distracted some zombies. Soon, the rest of the players managed to follow Dindin. Somehow, they all reached the net and started climbing.
Soon, they noticed some zombies who were already stuck in the next. Apart from that, more zombies were also approaching them from the ground.
Third quest on Zombieverse Episode 1:
The third quest was, "Climb the net and find an escape route." As the players were trying to find a safe window or entrance to the construction site, zombies started coming out of the windows, startling everyone hanging on the net.
The Zombieverse Season 2's first episode ended with a cliffhanger, which will continue the storyline from the show's second episode.
