In Episode 4 of Your Friends and Neighbors, things get even messier for Coupe. He’s juggling his new life post-divorce while diving into a very risky adventure. And honestly? It feels like watching a slow-motion car crash, you just can’t look away.

The episode kicks off with Coupe sneaking into Nick’s house, yeah, the same Nick who stole Coupe’s wife! But things don't go as planned. He’s caught red-handed by Elena, Nick’s housekeeper, while trying to steal Nick’s championship ring...and oh, he’s got a gun too!

Instead of freaking out and calling the cops, Elena throws a curveball, she confesses that she’s been stealing from the rich homes she cleans for years. And guess what? She proposes that she and Coupe team up!

Both desperate for money and tired of playing by the rules, Coupe and Elena find unexpected common ground. Their decision to join forces sets the whole episode, and probably their futures, on a wild new path.

Turns out, Coupe lost his fancy hedge fund job and is barely keeping up appearances. His wallet’s empty, but he’s still trying to look rich, a disaster waiting to happen.

Meanwhile, Elena’s been a housekeeper for a decade, hustling hard just to survive. She dreams of bringing her parents to the U.S. and helping her troubled brother, Chibo.

Elena says something that really hits: “At a certain point, it feels like not taking the shortcut is a bigger crime than the actual crime.” This pretty much becomes their motto moving forward.

And just like that, the heist spree begins. They’re careful, strategic, and only steal things that won’t be noticed right away. It's like a real-life Ocean’s Two...but messier.

Building their criminal network

Elena’s secret weapon? The “housekeeper network.” A whisper network of housekeepers who know exactly when people are out and where the valuables are hidden. Genius but dangerous.

Things get riskier when Elena brings in her cousin, Ector. He works for Charter Security and can score alarm codes for $5,000 a pop. Coupe hesitates but agrees, even though deep down he knows it’s asking for trouble.

Of course, not everything goes smoothly. During a break-in at the Hake residence, Coupe finds a second alarm system and a nasty guard dog nobody warned him about. It all goes sideways fast.

Coupe barely escapes, but not without injury. This botched job shakes their trust in Ector and makes it clear: this criminal life is way more dangerous than they thought.

Adding to the chaos, Coupe’s sister moves in with him. His house feels more like a sad crash pad than a home.

Things are even worse with his daughter, Tori. At Mel’s party, she confronts him, heartbroken and angry: “You were the only one who could fight for us, and you just walked away.” Ouch.

To top it off, a woman named Sam is sending Coupe risky texts and photos. You just know this is going to blow up sooner or later.

Nick throws a big birthday bash for Mel, complete with a cringey, over-the-top speech about how much he loves her. Spoiler: it’s more about him than her.

When Coupe shows up, injured and late, he sings "Hold Me Now" by the Thompson Twins. It was supposed to be his and Mel's wedding song. The whole room feels the tension.

Later, Mel and Coupe share a raw, emotional moment. Mel admits she’s miserable even without him. She says she’s numb and nothing feels real anymore. They still get each other in a way no one else does.

Underneath the shiny surface, everyone’s struggling. Wealth hides their problems but doesn’t fix them.

From the housekeepers to the rich homeowners, everyone’s putting on a show. Coupe and Elena’s crimes are just the tip of the iceberg.

Despite everything, Coupe and Mel clearly still have a deep bond. The big question is: can they ever rebuild it?

All these characters are chasing something: love, security, meaning. But money and appearances aren’t enough to fill the emptiness inside.

Episode 4 leaves us with a ton of questions. Will Coupe and Elena keep their risky partnership alive? Can Coupe fix things with his daughter? And is there hope for him and Mel to reconnect?

Whatever happens, one thing’s clear: life in this wealthy bubble isn’t as perfect as it looks. Underneath the surface, everyone’s fighting their own battles.
