Jon Hamm's Andrew Cooper continued to be swamped with problems after his wife cheated on him with his best friend Nick, and he was fired from his job.
After Cooper's company discovered that he was having an affair with a junior employee, he was fired from his job, leaving him in a financial bind. To maintain the facade of his affluent lifestyle, he started stealing from his wealthy neighbors.
Your Friends and Neighbors Episode 3 saw Barney reluctantly attending Nick's party, which gave him the brilliant idea to steal from his house. Lu, the pawn shop owner, also visited and threatened him.

Your Friends and Neighbors Episode 3 recap: Cooper faces obstacles from all sides
In the latest episode of Your Friends and Neighbors, Cooper is again swamped with problems from all sides. Barney advises him to hire a lawyer, which might help his case and pressure his employers to compensate him with a substantial amount or even reinstate his job.
While Cooper does not believe that he has a chance of winning the lawsuit, they meet with Rick Massiello, a hotshot and expensive lawyer. Rick, in fact, tells the duo that Cooper does not stand a chance of winning the lawsuit against his company. Additionally, the case could run for several years, which would prove expensive for the fund manager. Still, Cooper agrees and hires Rick.
Elsewhere, problems do not leave his side as his ex-wife tells him that their daughter Tori needs a professional tennis coach, and she needs him to pay the expensive fees ($1,000 per week). While Cooper is not in a position to afford this, he agrees for the sake of his daughter.
Your Friends and Neighbors Episode 3 recap: Cooper's robbery gone wrong
Misfortunes don't seem to be leaving Cooper anytime soon in Your Friends and Neighbors, as he finds Lu at his house. She announces that they can continue doing business together and would pay him for the stolen items, but also threatens him not to report her to the cops.
Later, after all of his family has ditched him for their plans, Cooper calls Samantha, who tells him that all the ladies of the neighborhood are attending a self-defense session. Since all the men will be at Nick's party, Cooper plans to attempt a robbery at the Resnick household.
His robbery, however, goes haywire when Kat Resnick returns with her lover. Cooper steals an expensive wine bottle and leaves the house in a hurry.
Your Friends and Neighbors Episode 3 recap: Cooper steals from Nick's house
Cooper plans to sell the wine bottle to Lu, but he receives a drunk call from Barney, who insists that he should come to Nick's party. Cooper gives in and finally joins Nick's party, where he gifts him the wine bottle.
The conversation at the party gets heated up when a man brings up Mel's affair with Nick, and also accuses Cooper of having an affair with Samantha. Nick intervenes and tries to diffuse the tension by showing off expensive things at his house.
Cooper gets an idea and decides to steal from Nick's place. When the party dies down and everything is dark, he sneaks back into Nick's house and decides to steal his expensive championship ring. As he opens the trophy cabinet, a mysterious person points a gun behind his back, and the episode ends.
