There were times when Joe begged Bronte to kill him as escaping the consequences of his crime by meeting his end was what Joe really wanted, and yet Branco's resilient plans to bring the serial killer to justice finally bore fruit.

Here's everything that we know.

How was Joe Goldberg brought to justice in the finale of You Season 5?

It is a known fact that Joe Golberg always manged to escape justice despite committing horrific crimes ever since the debut season of You. This time, as the fifth season went on, his latest obsession with a woman named Bronte proved to be his ultimate wrongdoing. Bronte entered Joe's life with the sole intention of bringing him to justice and she was prepared to go all the way to achieve her goal.

When Joe and Kate were trapped inside the burning Mooney's, Bronte rescued him and vowed to marry him just outside the burning building. The next turn in the narrative came when Kate spilled the details of Joe's crimes to the police, forcing him to abscond and Bronte joined him in his journey. While the two of them were running away from the police together, Bronte brought out a gun to confront Joe about his crimes.

A struggle broke out between the two of them, but Bronte eventually turned Joe to the police. Joe implored her to push the trigger and kill him then and there, but Bronte would have none of it as she believed the a lonely life inside the prison walls would be a fitting end for Joe after he is convicted for his crimes.

Penn Badgley opens up about You Season 5 finale

Badgley recently spoke in an exclusive interview with Deadline wherein he shared his insights about the conclusion of the Netflix show. Speaking about his character, Badgley noted:

"It becomes a meta exercise on: Why are we so obsessed with this man? Apart from the superficial reasons, what is it about a protagonist like this that works? And I think we deliver; it’s a true deconstruction of Joe.”

He then went on to speak about the ultimate fate of his character and the infamous glass box wherein he trapped his victims:

"That’s actually where he does his worst work, is his manipulation and seduction. The box is kind of obvious, the box is actually where he’ll put anybody, but he only puts women in the bedroom, so that’s where his most dangerous work is. And it was important for him to be seen, finally, as a sexual predator."

You is exclusively available on Netflix.
