More about You Season 4 Part 2 ending
You Season 4 Part 2 took an unexpected turn as Joe Goldberg's quest came to a devastating conclusion. What appeared to be a conflict between him and Rhys Montrose turned out to be much more convoluted.
Joe had been imagining Rhys all along. The actual Rhys had never engaged with him, and the one Joe was speaking to was a figment of his own imagination—his worst inclinations given a face and voice.
Joe came to the realization that he had been responsible for the killings all along when the truth came to light. He thought he was still in charge because his mind had suppressed the truth of what he had done.
This time, however, he gave in to his desires rather than resisting them. Someone far more dangerous—someone who no longer felt guilt—was left behind when the internal struggle that had formerly characterized him vanished.
When he imprisoned Marienne Bellamy in a cage, thinking he was protecting her, his obsession with her turned nasty. But Marienne managed to trick him. With the help of a driven student named Nadia, she staged an overdose, making Joe think she was dead, and then ran away.
Joe then made a radical decision: he tried suicide by jumping off a bridge. But he survived, and rather than viewing it as a second opportunity, he accepted his actual nature.
He no longer saw himself as a conflicted man trying to be good. Instead, he completely accepted the evil within himself. When Joe returned to New York, he gained power through Kate’s wealth. No longer hiding from his past, he embraced it, setting the stage for a darker future.
