You is a psychological crime-romance drama about a serial killer named Joe Goldberg. The show revolves around Joe’s twisted fantasies about falling in love with women, eventually killing them until the day he meets Kate. The story then gets weirder because although Kate knows about her beau’s skeletons in the closet, it doesn’t bother her.
Joe has killed several people over the last 4 seasons of You. From Elijah in season 1 to Kate’s father and others, Joe has murdered 18 people. The reason he is never connected to any of them so far is tied to just how disturbingly good he is at covering his tracks and disposing of a body.
Although Joe thought it best to have them killed, viewers liked some of these characters. Before a new season unfolds, here’s a list of the top 7 beloved characters Joe killed until season 4.

Top 7 victims of Joe Goldberg in You from Seasons 1-4
1) Beck - Season 1
Beck, played by Elizabeth Lail, was Joe’s muse in season 1. Joe follows Beck everywhere from the library to the route home. The couple is initially on good terms until she connects the dots and finds his true nature.
Beck then wants to have a talk with him in the wake of all the deaths including that of her best friend Peach. After walking into his bathroom and noticing his “trophies,” she realizes that she has made a grave mistake and has to run.
Sadly, she never makes it out and succumbs to being his victim in his basement - the house of horrors. Season 1 of You doesn’t reveal how Beck died, only confirms she was deceased. Joe then goes about his life and pins her death on Dr. Nicky, Becky’s therapist.
2) Jasper Krenn - Season 2
Jasper Krenn, played by Steven W. Bailey, is a loan shark on the lookout for Will Bettelheim (Joe’s new alias in season 2) to collect what he is owed. Joe is caught completely off-guard by Jasper’s remarks and rage as he loses a finger. Naturally, it's payback time for Joe.
Shortly after he manages to get a reattachment surgery for his thumb, Joe begins to plot Jasper’s murder. He strategically lures Jasper to his devious glass cage by tricking him with a false promise.
Jasper suffers the most grizzly death in season 2 of You where Joe puts his body through a meat processor to dispose of it.
3) Forty Quinn - Season 2
Forty Quinn, played by James Scully, was Love’s aristocratic brother in You. He appears rather disturbed throughout the series, especially after he is led to believe that he killed a person.
After picking up the breadcrumbs of Joe’s involvement with Beck's cold-blooded murder, he confronts Joe about the same. He threatens him at gunpoint to protect his sister who is madly in love with Joe. In a sudden turn of events, Officer Fincher appears in the heat of the moment and kills Forty with how the situation portrays itself.
4) Love - Season 3
Love was Joe’s next obsession in season 3 of You and is just as chaotic as he is. Although he kills her brother and several other people, it doesn’t seem to bother her much because she becomes a murderer too.
With her jealousy getting the best of Love, Joe decides enough is enough and wants to end things with her. In episode 10 of the series, the couple ends up in a kill-off. Love attempts to inject Joe with aconite - to immobilize him. For a man who is a trained murderer, he already anticipates this.
Out-maneuvering Love, he gives her the taste of her own medicine: an overdose of aconite, instantly killing her. To cover up her tracks, he commits arson and accordingly disposes of her body in the fire.
5) Rhys Montrose - Season 4
Joe is a very complicated individual mentally, especially since he suffers from erotomania, an extreme form of obsession over a person they’ve never interacted with. Rhys is one of Joe’s fantasy characters who exists in his mind.
The character Joe concocted was known as 'The Eat Rich Killer,' who turned out to be Joe himself.
Joe had had enough of Rhys in his head, especially with the many murders he’d already committed. Rhys ends up getting choked and castrated by Joe who ensures Rhys is no longer connected to him in any manner.
6) Tom Lockwood - Season 4
Tom Lockwood, played by Greg Kinnear, is Kate's father in You. The two don’t exactly have an ideal father-daughter relationship and both Kate and Joe don’t get along with him.
Although Joe respects him as his lover's father, the last straw is when Lockwood coerces Joe into murdering Rhys. In the aftermath, Joe’s temper takes over and abducts Lockwood in the heat of the moment. Lockwood finds himself bound in a chair, a helpless victim of his.
Lockwood almost convinces Joe to free him until he brings up his daughter Kate’s relationship with him. Joe had heard enough from Lockwood about Kate and suggestions to help hide his murders. He decides to shut his alleged future-father-in-law up for good and suffocates him with a bag over his head.
7) Gemma - Season 4
Gemma, played by Eve Austin, is known for being entitled and mean. After Kate seemingly hates Gemma for who she is, she decides to end Gemma’s life. She follows Gemma to a room in Lady Phoebe’s mansion and aggressively stabs her to death.
Later, Joe finds his beau sitting with a blank expression and a bloody body beside her. However, Kate never portrays herself as a violent killer.
To shield Kate, the duo decides to hide her body in a meat storage room. No one knows what truly happened to Gemma since Lady Phoebe’s home burns down with Gemma in it.
