Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary spoke with CBC News a month ago and shared his thoughts in an engaging segment called Power and Politics regarding his visit to Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate and his opinions on Canada's potential in becoming the 51st state.
Kevin O'Leary chimed in about the narrative Trump was trying to build after getting elected as the 47th President of the United States, and how the tariff imposition could be a threat to Canada and America's economic reunion. During the interview, Kevin tried to lay out the complexities of Canada as a country, admitting that Prime Minister Justine Trudeau was unable to hold the country any longer.
The reporter asked O'Leay about his Mar-a-Lago visit and seeing Trudeau and Dominic LeBlanc along with President Trump. Kevin remarked he asked the President to "ignore" meeting with them. However, the reporter kept on insisting on what Trump's move on tariff implementation would be, which seemingly irritated O'Leary because he was not listening to his argument.
The reporter kept on insisting that Trump has made statements about mass deportation along with tariff implementation and it was clear from his statements that he would do that in the coming week. Shark Tank mentor lashed out at the reporter and said:
"You are not able to separate the signal from the noise. You can't do it. You're just listening to the noise and you're reporting it and you're actually accelerating the hype around it You are not distinguishing the signal. You don't get it. This is a large difficult negotiation we're starting and it goes towards an economic Union, get over it."
Here is what Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary said about Canada becoming the 51st state
Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary stated the difference between Canada losing its sovereignty by becoming the 51st State, which he was supporting, and forging an economic partnership with the US. Kevin O'Leary and Donald Trump met at Mar-a-Lago, and the news took a form of controversy, many thinking that O'Leary supports Trump's idea of making Canada the 51st State of the US. However, the Shark Tank mentor made it clear that the talks were about some ideas that might help an economic union.
Kevin said that the talks were about a common currency and hitting a negotiation to boost the economy.
