A recap of Yellowstone Season 5 part 2

Yellowstone season 5, part 2, began with the news of John Dutton’s death. While he had been murdered, the crime scene was staged to look like a suicide. Beth and Kayce immediately suspected that Jamie might be involved.

A flashback then revealed that Sarah Atwood had hired mercenaries to carry out John’s murder. Meanwhile, Rip and the ranch crew dealt with financial issues and transported cattle to Texas to help pay the ranch’s inheritance tax.

When Beth confronted Jamie, he avoided giving answers, which made her more suspicious. With police closing in, Sarah panicked and was murdered by unknown hitmen. Following his girlfriend's death, Jamie panicked too and destroyed evidence, which only made him look even more guilty.

At the same time, Kayce used his military skills to get some clues about his father’s death. He tracked down Grant, the hitman behind the murder, and warned him to stay away from the Duttons by threatening his family.

On the ranch, Colby died while trying to save Carter from a dangerous horse. The tragedy left an emotional scar on Teeter and the rest of the ranch crew. Rip supported the team while struggling with guilt and prepared to sell more ranch assets to keep things afloat.

Beth strengthened her bond with Carter, the teenager, and reassured him that he was a part of the family. Meanwhile, Kayce focused on protecting his family, even if it meant stepping away from the ranch.
