John Dutton’s murder investigation remains in process in Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 12

The investigation regarding John Dutton’s death is shown to be continuing in Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 12. Detective Dillard interviews Jamie in Bozeman after Sarah Atwood is murdered in episode 11.

The detective asks Jamie if he thought Sarah was being targeted and once he asks if he could search through some of Sarah’s belongings. Jamie gets defensive, saying he’s unnecessarily being treated as a suspect.

At this, the detective told him that while he wasn’t considering him as a suspect, now he will. This leads to him acquiring a search warrant for Jamie’s house, which makes Jamie panic and shred legal documents that were in Sarah’s bag. Those documents could prove that he had some conflict of interest with the airport project of Market Equities.

Kayce also gets a call from the detective and informs him how Jamie was behaving in an extremely suspicious way. Kayce does not seem to be surprised at the news and he tells Detective Dillard that he thinks Jamie might be involved in both Sarah and John’s murder.

It is clear from Dillard and Kayce’s conversation that Jamie is completely under the suspicion of police and he has put himself in that position. Kayce then makes a call to Cade McPherson and takes Grant Horton's address from him. His actions make it clear that he has plans to avenge the death of his father.

He also shows Beth a news article talking about Sarah’s death and tells her,

“The police are circling Jamie. This is all gonna come to a head real quick.”

However, Beth tells him that Jamie will not hesitate to drown the family’s name to save himself. She also asks Kayce to leave Jamie for her.
