Recap of Episode 9

Episode 9 was one of the saddest and most shocking episodes yet. The characters faced terrible losses and hard choices that changed everything.

Van died in a heartbreaking way. After saving Shauna and Tai from Melissa's dangerous smoke trap, Melissa killed her. Before dying, Van saw her younger self who told her something important: "Just surviving wasn't the point." This makes us wonder what the real point of their struggle is.

Nat completely broke down when the first snow fell. She realized their plan to escape failed and they were truly trapped in the wilderness. This moment changed her forever - it's when she became the tough but damaged adult Nat we see in the present timeline.

Melissa showed her true colors by killing Van and running away. We learned she's been living a secret life after faking her own death years ago. Now she has a new identity, but her violent actions prove she's just as broken as the others.

Shauna is becoming scarier. She almost killed Kodi, but at the last moment just tied him up instead. The cold look in her eyes afterward showed she's losing control, just like her future self we've seen.
