The hit Spanish show Wrong Side of the Tracks (or Entrevía in its original language) has been a real crowd-pleaser with a story about a war vet who takes the law into his own hands. It's got a lot of people talking, and now that Season 4 is out on Netflix starting February 7, 2025, everyone's curious: Will we get a Season 5? No, it looks like there won't be a Wrong Side of the Tracks Season 5.
Actor Miguel Ángel Jiménez said so on Instagram. He posted that Season 4 is the "final season of Entrevías," which means the show is ending.
His words were,
"Tomorrow the 4th and final season of Entrevías will be yours. World premiere on Netflix. Y’all ain’t ready for everything that’s coming."
That sure sounds like the show's story has reached its end, especially since Season 4 wraps things up in a final way.
Now, the main guy in the show, Tirso, has had his fate decided, so the chances of the show going on are pretty slim. But you never know what might happen in the world of TV and movies. Sometimes shows come back or get new life with spin-offs. So, while we can't say for sure if Wrong Side of the Tracks will come back in some form, it's always a possibility.
Why did Wrong Side of the Tracks end?
One major explanation for why the show reached its finale is the story of its main character, Tirso Abantos. Through the episodes, this man who's been through war faces off with people who sell harmful drugs in his area. He does all this for the sake of his granddaughter, Irene.
When Season 4 ends with a heart-touching moment where Tirso's spirit finds peace with Irene, it seems there isn't much more of his story. The entire show was about his journey, and without him, it's hard to imagine how a new season could be just as powerful.
Another thing to consider is the way TV shows are usually made in Spain. Unlike a lot of American series that keep going for many seasons, Spanish dramas often know exactly where they're heading and plan their endings. So, Entrevía's finish in Season 4 wasn't a surprise; it was more of a natural conclusion to the story they had been telling.
Lastly, even though Wrong Side of the Tracks became a hit worldwide on Netflix, it first appeared on a Spanish channel called Telecinco. In Spain, it's common for shows to have a set amount of seasons before they wrap up. Since the show followed this pattern, it makes sense that it ended after four seasons.
Could there be a Wrong Side of the Tracks spin-off or revival?
While a sequel to Wrong Side of the Tracks may not be in the cards right now, the idea of a spin-off or a special episode isn't entirely off the table. Characters like Irene and Ezequiel could easily take center stage in their own adventure.
However, since Netflix hasn't mentioned any plans to expand the story, we're just keeping our fingers crossed. Sometimes, when fans love a show and want more, they make enough noise that the powers that be sit up and take notice.
If that happens with Wrong Side of the Tracks, we might just get to visit the Entrevía's world again.
Until then, enjoy the four seasons of Wrong Side of the Tracks on Netflix.
