Since its premiere in 2000, Gilmore Girls has remained a constant favorite as fans never grew tired of watching the story of the mother-daughter duo Lorelai and Rory, played by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, respectively. After the series came to an end in 2007 with 7 seasons, it was revived again with the Netflix miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

While the revival attempt was met with controversial opinions, speculations around another shot at Gilmore Girls have been on the rise, and while talking about the same to TV Insider, Lauren Graham said,

“I’ve never been shy to say I would welcome coming back.”

Let us now explore in detail what the trio Amy Sherman-Palladino, Lauren Graham, and Emily Gilmore star Kelly Bishop said about the possibility of Gilmore Girls coming back with more.

Gilmore Girls creator and actors are open to the show coming back

In a recent interview with TV Insider, when asked about the possibility of Gilmore Girls coming back, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and actors Lauren Graham and Kelly Bishop were all enthusiastic about the prospect of the project happening.

Sherman-Palladino said,

“We never said ‘never’ because we didn’t actually intend to do the [revival] for Netflix. Then, we all got together for a panel [similar to tonight’s] and we went to a bar afterwards. We all thought, ‘Well, this was fun! Let’s just do it again! As you know, I love Stars Hollow. I love Lauren Graham more than life. I love Alexis, and Kelly Bishop is my ‘Contessa.’ I bow to her.”

Lauren Graham added,

“My armchair analysis is that…when we went back to do the Netflix [revival], it didn’t yet feel done, which is why the story ended in a way that was not done or could potentially [be a beginning]..”

The interview also revealed that Bishop is more than happy to put her complete faith in Amy and Dan for the story in case this project is taken up. However, given how well she knows Emily’s character, she added, talking about her reaction to having a great-grandchild,

“I think [Emily] would just look at that little baby and say, ‘What can I do with this one? I can really mold this one to be the way I want.”

With the actors and creator on board for a potential revival of Golden Girls, it remains to be seen if the same materializes. While the Netflix show that picked up decades after the main show ended was not unanimously accepted, the fandom of Gilmore Girls remains, and that’s what makes the possibility of a revival good news for the fans.

Gilmore Girls can be streamed on Netflix.
