Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary shared a clip on Instagram on January 2, 2025, stating how technology has "shattered" the traditional 9 to 5 working model. The investor discussed many related aspects of hiring talents from anywhere worldwide.
Kevin O'Leary noted how the workflows have become "project-based" rather than typically, as they used to be "time zone-based." The Shark Tank mentor also mentioned how growth "attracts money." He referred to that as the "new reality" of the global economy and that it had "just begun."
The investor captioned the Instagram clip with:
"Technology has shattered the 9-to-5 office model. Today, the best talent can work from anywhere whether it's Saudi Arabia or San Francisco, because workflows are project-based, not time zone-based. Growth attracts growth, and ultimately, it attracts money. That’s the new reality of the global economy, and it’s only just begun."
Shark Tank mentor Kevin O'Leary discusses how traditional "9 to 5" workflows have changed since the technological advancement
In the recently released Instagram clip, Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary talked about technologically driven efficiencies and a "work from anywhere" culture. Referring to that, he shared an example of how the traditional 9 to 5 work model has completely changed since the technology had advanced.
"Technology drives efficiencies. It allows for project-based work. If there's specialists in Saudi Arabia or Riyadh that you need and you're headquartered in San Francisco, you put them in an office here. It does...it...the time zones don't matter anymore because the workflows have turned into project-based work. So we have that in all our businesses, too," shared Kevin.
Further in the clip, the entrepreneur discussed that there are employees across the globe who possess particular skills. He mentioned how they have the "ability to manage themselves" through project scheduling rather than 9-to-5 work. Some work from home, while others prefer working from their offices.
He talked about the digitization that the world has faced in the last 36 months. In addition, Kevin noted that no matter where the "talented" individuals may be located, they can work for a "global enterprise."
"So there's no reason if talented people are here, anywhere in Saudi Arabia, that they can't work for global enterprise. There's no reason whatsoever. Growth attracts growth Growth attracts growth, and then lastly it attracts money," stated the Shark Tank mentor.
Kevin O'Leary concluded the clip by showing how working on projects, not time-based work, has become a top choice, and individuals can work on that from anywhere in the world. He talked about how growth "attracts growth," and that ultimately attracts "money."
Viewers can witness Kevin O'Leary investing in unique business ventures and start-ups featured on Shark Tank, releasing new episodes every Friday on Hulu.
