Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary has a piece of wise advice for those entrepreneurs who are struggling to give their partner time because of their work. During a podcast with Paul Logan, Kevin O'Leary briefly talked about how finding a compatible better half could immensely help your work.
In the podcast, giving an example of a person he met during one of his lectures, Kevin mentioned that the guy created a business from his dorm and struggled to maintain a relationship with his girlfriend because he was unable to give time to her. Kevin spoke about what he told the guy and said:
"I said to him wow okay I'm not Dr. Phil but let me give you some advice here which one is easier to replace the girlfriend or the business i mean you gotta ask that question you're making five million a year."
Shark Tank investor then pointed out how important it was to have a life partner who was willing to travel the tough road. He said:
"When you're an entrepreneur, you've got to find a partner, a significant other that understands the journey and is willing to support that journey because that's ultimately how you're going to be personally free one day."
Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary believes in putting his bet more on female entrepreneurs
Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary understands the importance of working around great people. "Keeping the crew tight" should be the foremost aim of an entrepreneur, according to the shark, Kevin. For building a business, the people one is working with should understand what "they are doing."
However, Kevin O'Leary believes that investing in female entrepreneurs and working with them brings better returns. Citing the example of Shark Tank, Kevin O'Leary said that in his 14 years of experience, he has noticed that 75% of the founders who got a deal were female entrepreneurs.
According to Mr. Wonderful, women are better at "mitigating risks," which makes Kevin a biased investor in female businesses. He further admired the time management skills of women and added that if you want to get any work done, give it to a "busy mother."
O'Leary Ventures founder Kevin noted that he invests in any deal based on the person's merit, but he advocates for female entrepreneurs and tries to invest more in the ventures run by females.
