In Will Trent Season 3 Episode 6, viewers were treated to an unexpected romantic development: Will Trent (Ramón Rodríguez), and Assistant District Attorney Marion Alba (Gina Rodriguez), shared a passionate, unanticipated kiss.

Given that Will's on-again-off-again affair with Angie Polaski, played by Erika Christensen, appeared to be a thing of the past, the episode left fans speculating—has Will genuinely moved on from Angie? While it's premature to say if Will and Marion are destined for long-term, the palpable attraction between them has certainly stirred up Will Trent's love life.

The groundwork for this potential new relationship was laid through their shared Puerto Rican background, clever exchanges, and collaboration on gang arson.

Yet, Angie isn't entirely out of the picture.

Will Trent and Marion Alba’s relationship heat up

For much of Season 3, Marion Alba had a side role, but Episode 6 placed her squarely in the spotlight.

As pointed out by Ryan Schwartz from TV Line,

"After several episodes where Alba was either a blip on our radar or missing altogether, the ADA was extremely present in Episode 6."

The shift was clear as day in the last episode of Will Trent, with Marion actively working on an arson case and sharing personal moments with Will.

Their playful banter grew into something deeper as they discovered common ground in their pasts and work, leading to a powerful kiss in Will's kitchen.

In the same vein, TV Insider mentioned,

"Will lights up like a kid on Christmas morning."

Marion's early arrival at the morgue was a telltale sign of his growing feelings for her. Throughout the episode, their relationship evolved beyond a simple workplace fling and even looked at a more meaningful connection to come.

Angie Polaski is still in the picture on Will Trent

Despite Will’s newfound romantic spark with Marion, Angie remains a significant part of the story. The episode wrapped up with her reaching out to Will for assistance in clearing her suspect's name, which suggests that they're going to be collaborating more.

Considering their past on Will Trent, these might bring old sentiments or at the very least, make Will's current romance a bit more complicated.

Now, we're not entirely sold on the idea that Will is fully prepared for this. It's only been a short time—a mere two weeks—since Angie said they're through for good. This ongoing bond makes us wonder: is Will genuinely moving forward, or is he just finding ways to keep himself occupied and avoid his feelings?

Could this begin a love triangle on Will Trent?

As Will and Marion's relationship takes off rather quickly, Angie remains part of the picture. It seems like we're heading into a classic love triangle scenario. Marion's entry into the mix is changing things for Angie, who used to be Will's main girl.

Will and Marion's first intimate encounter happens just after Angie gives Will the green light to move on. This situation keeps us on the edge of our seats, curious about who Will will end up with. This romantic tug-of-war could very well set the tone for the entire season's worth of feelings and drama.

Make sure to tune in to Season 3 on ABC, and the day after on Hulu.
