In Will Trent Season 3, Episode 3, Angie got her job back, which meant she was bound to cross paths with Will sooner or later. It happened just a few minutes into Episode 4 when they met at a crime scene. While they kept things professional, the awkward tension between them was impossible to ignore.

Later, when they ran into each other at a restaurant, things got heated. Angie accused Will of ruining their lives, while he defended his decision, saying he had no choice but to arrest her. By the end of the episode, they had a serious talk. Angie made it clear, they were just co-workers now and nothing more.

Angie and Will face reality

During their final scene together in episode 4, Angie reminded Will that they had been playing the same back-and-forth game since they were kids. She suggested they stop. Will admitted he didn’t know how to move on, but Angie pointed out that he already was.

She understood that their relationship could never be the same after Will arrested her at the end of season 2. They were no longer lovers or friends, just colleagues. As she left his office, she tearfully told him, Wilbur Trent, I release you,” symbolizing that she was finally letting go of their past.

A small but meaningful detail followed, Marion’s borrowed shirt hanging on the back of Will’s office door. It could be a sign that Will’s relationship with Angie is over for good, and a new chapter with Marion is just beginning.

When someone you love arrests you, there’s no going back. Will and Angie had already been on shaky ground after years of breakups, trauma, and second chances. But everything completely fell apart when Will turned Angie in for covering up a murder and lying about it.

For Will, arresting Angie was one of the hardest things he had ever done. He had dreamed of a future with her, but that dream shattered the moment he realized the truth. However, he had no other choice, if he hadn’t arrested Angie, Crystal’s mother could have exposed the cover-up, which would have led to even worse consequences.

Now, Will Trent Season 3 is making it clear: a romantic reunion between them isn’t happening, and honestly, that’s for the best.

Even after everything, Will still wants to be friends with Angie. Co-showrunner Daniel T. Thomson even hinted at this in an interview with TVLine. But Angie doesn’t see it that way. She is determined to keep their relationship strictly professional.

That doesn’t mean they won’t be friends in the future, it just means they both need time to heal. Right now, their romance is over. But once they’ve both moved on, a friendship could be possible.

One thing is certain, Will and Angie getting back together is not an option anymore. Their love story ended the moment Will arrested her.
