The anime Solo Leveling has captivated audiences worldwide with its gripping storyline and dynamic characters, and now, fans are left wondering whether the series will return with Solo Leveling Season 3 following the conclusion of Season 2 on March 30, 2025.
Atsushi Kaneko, the producer of Solo Leveling, addressed this uncertainty during the Aniplex After Hours program. Even though he showed optimism for a continuation, Kaneko revealed that no Solo Leveling Season 3 plans have been confirmed as yet. This puts the future of the anime in the balance, with fans hanging on for more news from Studio A-1 Pictures and Crunchyroll.
The current status of Solo Leveling Season 3
There has not been an official announcement of Solo Leveling Season 3 at this time. Atsushi Kaneko said Season 2 was the conclusion of the anime for the time being and reiterated that its fate lies in the hands of viewer support. Although Kaneko himself would like to see the show go on, he admitted no one has decided whether it will.
"I hope the next time you watch the anime, you'll imagine all the creators and staff who worked on it behind the scenes. With episode 25... the anime series Solo Leveling will come to an end, for now. Will this end be temporary or not? I honestly don't know what the future will bring. With the encouragement and support of everyone watching, [the anime] may continue or it may not. Personally, I really hope it does."
Solo Leveling Season 2 followed up on huge chunks of the webtoon and web novel, up to Chapter 107 of the webtoon and Chapter 127 of the novel. With nine arcs left in the original material, there is more than enough content left to continue with Solo Leveling Season 3. Fans are looking forward to this material being animated in the future.
There have also been rumors of other ways to keep going with Solo Leveling. A few think a theatrical film may be made ahead of a likely third season that fills in gaps or covers different storylines, but no reports have been heard about this chance.
What happened in Solo Leveling Season 2?
Solo Leveling Season 2, also called Arise from the Shadow, continues immediately from the storyline of Season 1. Sung Jinwoo finds himself a Shadow Monarch now and hides his immense abilities from everyone else. Season 2 delves deeper into the mysteries of Jinwoo's powers and introduces new factions and characters that dramatically increase the breadth of the story.
One of the major plotlines is Jinwoo's confrontation with powerful enemies and his journey to uncover the truth behind the System that granted him his unique abilities. The Jeju Island Raid is one of the most memorable arcs, showing Jinwoo's newfound powers as he battles against hordes of magical beasts.
During this raid, Jinwoo raises Beru—the Ant King—as one of his shadow soldiers, further solidifying his reputation as a one-man army. Season 2 also explores Jinwoo's personal development and relationships. The establishment of his guild represents a pivotal moment in his character development.
Other Hunters at the same time struggle with their issues as they navigate alliances and clashes in a world besieged by supernatural forces. The season ends with questions surrounding Jinwoo's abilities and the future of humanity as it faces impending disasters foreshadowed by the return of characters such as Il-Hwan.
These loose threads allow for more development in a hypothetical Solo Leveling Season 3.
The fate of Solo Leveling Season 3 is not known yet since Studio A-1 Pictures has not made an official announcement yet. Producer Atsushi Kaneko had been hopeful for further continuation but noted that audience reception would be a deciding factor in bringing the series back again.
