An exciting week lies ahead for Marvel Universe fans as they have something major rolling in this week. Every fan is counting the number of days left for 22nd December 2024. The simple reason: the third and final season of Marvel Studios' What If...? is releasing on the 22nd of this month. Then, starting from that day, the other episodes of the show will be released daily on Disney+.
The eighth episode, which is also its final one will be released on 29th December. Apart from that, an exciting episode is the very first one that ends the speculation of a fight between The Hulk and The Avengers. The answer is yes, we will see an evil variant of the Hulk fight the Avengers but in their mech form, in What If...? Season 3. Luckily, as the third season begins, the fans get a look into this interesting storyline before anything else.
What is the first episode about?
The first episode is titled "What If... the Hulk Fought the Mech Avengers?" As the title suggests, the Avengers of this Earth are giant robots that fans of robotic technology will find exciting. It looks like in this episode the battle between the mech-suited Avengers and Hulk seems very intentional as the green giant is a villain. And you know what is the selling point of this particular episode? Giant robots punching the Hulk!!! Fans believe that this is a homage to other franchises featuring mech suits such as Power Rangers.
Every time The Hulk has Battled The Avengers' Heroes in What If...?
However, this is not the first time that individual heroes have battled the Hulk in What If...? Fans will remember the intense battle between Hulk and Thor in The Avengers or Thor: Ragnarok and Hulk and Iron Man (in the Hulkbuster Armour) in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Zombie Wanda also had a huge indecisive blowout with Hulk in the fifth episode of the first season of What If...?
Furthermore, The Avengers as a team had a skirmish with a different version of Hulk (Happy Hogan) in the Season 2 episode "What If... Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?" However, Hulked-out Happy reveals the main villain of the episode, and all is well between him and the heroes.
What is What If...? about?
What If...? is an animated anthology show that was released back in August 2021. This anthology series is based on the popular Marvel comic runs that share the same name and were first introduced in 1977. The basic appeal of the show is that, unlike the other MCU titles before it, What If...? did not require you to know the MCU continuity. However, if you were knowledgeable about everything that came before, it would make the viewing more rewarding. The show has two seasons and the third one will begin streaming this weekend.
