FBI: Most Wanted saw the return of Roxy Sternberg's Barnes on the show's Season 6 after facing a major change in her personal life.
She is one of the few characters from the main cast left on the show, and seeing her back in action was a delight for the fans.
Though she is a little late to the Season 6 party, having joined the season at Episode 4, she is already locking horns with her boss, Dylan McDermott's Remy Scott.
Barnes' return to FBI: Most Wanted is also crucial because she has had a major change in her personal life, which is bound to affect her career. Traces of that can already be seen in the latest episode, where she went rogue on a case despite Remy's orders.
More about Barnes' return on FBI: Most Wanted
Barnes' personal life affects her judgment on a case in FBI: Most Wanted
After divorcing her wife Charlotte and being separated from her kids, who went with their mother to DC, Barnes is a changed woman on the show, and the call she got in Episode 4 hit a little too close to home.
On her first day back, Barnes receives a scam call from a call center. While she is about to cut the call, the girl identifies herself as Jessie and asks for help. She was held hostage and was told to scam people online.
While this could still be part of the scam, Barnes traced the underlying fear in the girl's voice and knew there was a case and the girl needed rescuing.
She told her boss, Remy, who asked her to pass on the case to Jubal as it does not lie within their jurisdiction. But since she has just lost her children in FBI: Most Wanted, the case of Jessie hit a little too close for her, and she decided to save the girl on her own.
She takes Hana's help, and the two women go rogue to investigate independently. In the end, they save Jessie, but Remy is unhappy with Barnes, who just defied his direct order.
Barnes receives a warning from Remy in FBI: Most Wanted. But will she pay any heed to it in the long run?
While Barnes saves the day at the end of FBI: Most Wanted, Remy is still angry at her for defying his order to pass the case to Jubal. However, Remy warns her not to pull anything like this in the future, saying, ''If you pull a stunt like that again, you're off the team.''
However, in an interview with actress Roxy Sternberg, Barnes might not follow this advice as she will always do what her gut says if there is a case like this.
''You can't be complacent when something's playing out in front of you, number one. And number two, I know that feeling of being adamant that something is wrong, and everyone telling you otherwise, [but] you've got to follow through. Even if it means you lose your job, you've got to follow through.''
This case was more real for Barnes as she just wanted to get the girl back to her parents because she knew what being separated from your children meant, and she did not want any parent to bear that pain.
Considering this was her first case back, fans can expect more such disagreements between Remy and Barnes on the show in the future.
